Hi, my name is Patti Likwarz.  May 16, 2018 changed my life and many others forever.  My son Jeremy lost his battle against substance use disorder.  Right away I knew that I would use my grief to start helping others through this overwhelming struggle whether it is grief from the loss of a loved one or to help go through the journey of someone who is still struggling.  I started Speak Up for Jeremy, an organization I founded to help families tell their stories, educate the public, support other families that may be struggling with addiction or a loss and help end the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction.

When I lost Jeremy, I reached out to Kevin Florek of Tellurian with Jeremy’s story and the need for legitimate sober living homes.  We worked together to create a plan and capital campaign for Jeremy’s Place.

Jeremy was known for helping others even though he struggled with his own mental health and addiction.   As his mother, I knew I had to do something to offer hope to others as Jeremy would have done, so other families would not have to go through the pain I went through.  Substance use disorder is a family disease, it affects everyone in the family. The project has been very emotional for me but this house will help men get the chance to start life over.  A program like Jeremy’s Place would have been a huge help to my son and our family.  The doors are open and we have a full house of men taking great strides to start a new way of living life.  The appreciation from the men, their success stories and even their struggles make all the stress and emotional struggles I went through worth every moment.

Jeremy’s Place provides a safe sober living environment, but it also allows the residents to receive Tellurian’s wrap around services, to increase the likelihood of continued sobriety.

We strive to give HOPE to those who are affected by substance use addiction.  You are not alone through this journey.  We are a community who realizes it takes a village to raise a child but it also takes a village to save a child and their family.
